From its modest beginnings amidst the sand dunes and orange groves of Rehovot, the Weizmann Institute has flourished. Far from being an isolated, academic ivory tower, the Weizmann Institute has always been an integral part of Israel. Its scientists contributed to the nation-building effort from the time the new state was founded. Over the last 30 years, the Institute has been a driving force stimulating Israel's high tech economy, in designing and updating the science curriculum for Israeli schools, and in creating activities that encourage Israeli youth to develop a passion for science.

The Weizmann Institute contributes greatly to Israel's position as one of the most advanced science and technology-based societies in the world. As it celebrates its jubilee, the Weizmann Institute of Science continues to play an important role in shaping the future of technological and biomedical advances for Israel and the world. From genetic engineering at the molecular level, to extreme miniaturization in manufacturing, to biological computers and medical advances that will improve cancer treatment - Weizmann scientists will play key roles in the next century's scientific revolution.

For over 50 years, the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science has marshaled support for the Weizmann Institute - one of the world's preeminent institutions devoted to advancing the frontiers of scientific knowledge. The Institute is engaged in over 1,000 projects to fight disease and hunger, create new technologies, protect the environment, and harness alternative sources of energy. Join with us in providing the resources for Weizmann scientists to continue their research at the cutting edge of scientific developments.
