Rejected: By the Supreme Court, former defense minister and reserve major general Yitzhak Mordechais right to file a new appeal against the second, graver count of his March 2001 conviction of indecent assault, after already rejecting a similar request for appeal of the first count; paving the way for the armys mandatory demotion of Mordechai, who was sentenced to an 18-month suspended jail term, to private.

To Be Knighted: Nicolas Winton, 93, known as "Britains Oskar Schindler," an anonymous London stockbroker who ran a rescue operation that saved 669 Czech Jewish refugee children in 1939, by Queen Elizabeth, for his "service to humanity."

Signed: Cedric Ceballos, 33, who played 11 seasons in the NBA, notably with the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers, by Hapoel Tel Aviv.
